""With hello, you will know, when you find the one.”"
In May, I ran into a friend at a graduation party who told me she was going on a date the next day. I asked her how she had met the guy, and she told me about a free dating website called Plenty of Fish. She highly recommended the website, so that night, on a whim, I signed up. I thought it might be fun, but I really didn’t expect to meet my future husband that way. To my surprise, only seven days after I signed up on the site, I got a message from my now fiancé Jeff.
While, I had just joined POF and was brand new to the website, Jeff had been on POF for a couple years and hadn’t had any luck. He began thinking about deleting his account. In fact, Jeff had logged on to close the account just as he planned when he saw my picture. My picture stopped him in his tracks and he said “I have to message this girl”. Maybe it was love at first sight. We like to think of it as God’s orchestration bringing two people together.
After several messages back and forth over the course of about four days, we decided to meet in person. And again. And again. And again. And… Well, you get the picture. I think we averaged about five dates a week. Along the way we discovered that we had a mutual friend, mutual interests, but more importantly, we discovered the person we were each meant to be with. There just didn’t seem to be enough hours in a day or days in a week to see each other. Yet at the same time, it felt like we had known each other for years.
There is a line in a song by Melissa Etheridge that says:
"With hello, you will know, when you find the one.”
This couldn’t be more true for the two of us. There was something that caught our attention from the first hello’s. And by the third date, each of us were thinking to ourselves that we may have just found the one. I am so amazed at what has transpired over the last few months. Dating Jeff has felt like a dream, and being engaged to him is even more of a dream come true. I feel so blessed and I am so grateful that the Lord has brought us together.
